Aitkin Rotary’s International Project: Majengo Orphanage

In 2008 the Aitkin Lakes Area Rotary club started a journey led by member Tom Eberhardt to the small village of Mto Wa Mbu in Tanzania Africa.  In this village Tom had learned about the vast problem with orphans.  Tom found a very headstrong woman by the name of Lynn Connell and together we embarked on a project to help situate some of the orphans.  With the financial help of the Aitkin Rotary Club, Tom and Lynn and the on site support from Lynn, we were able to rent them a building and furnish it so that 28 wonderful children could be provided a roof over their head, meals and structured learning.  Below are some pictures of the orphans.
